Endodontics in Turlock & Modesto CA

Endodontics dentistry deals with treating the inner tissues of the teeth, otherwise known as the pulp or nerve. These procedures are performed to cure a tooth that is already damaged, and its core will have to be treated to prevent infection and re-establish its functioning. At our office, All Smile Dental in California, we perform various endodontic procedures to help restore the functioning of the oral cavity.

Types of Endodontics Procedures at All Smile Dental

Root Canals

Nowadays, root canal treatment is the most standard type of endodontic procedure performed. The process becomes necessary for patients who have an infection in one of their teeth. Root canal therapies remove the disease so that the tooth can once again regain its normal function. After the patient is given a local anesthetic, we will make a small opening in the tooth and clean out the infection from its insides. The tooth is then thoroughly cleaned, filled with a unique medicated material, and sealed.

Apicoectomy

An apicoectomy is an endodontic procedure for patients whose internal tooth problems cannot be resolved by root canal treatments. In this system, an incision is made in the gum tissues to reveal the bone underneath. Then a tiny hole is drilled in the bone right on the tip of the root to expose the affected area. Finally, we will eliminate the infected tissue, clean the root tip and seal the root with a filling. The space will be sutured to hold the gum tissues in position.

Endodontic Retreatment

An additional procedure may be required if you face problems with a tooth that has already undergone an endodontic treatment. Endodontic retreatment involves removing the filling materials that were previously placed during the initial root canal procedure.

Once the infection is eliminated, the canals are cleaned, shaped, and packed with new filling materials. An interim filling is used to seal the opening while the tooth is healing. Once the healing process is accomplished, a crown restoration is placed over the tooth for further protection and support.

Endo Microscope

Endo microscopes are helpful in both diagnosis and treatment. They help find hidden accessory canals, preserve more tooth structure and enhance a dentist's ability to view the tiniest details inside a patient's tooth.
